The Last Mrs. Parrish

Amber Patterson is fed up. She’s tired of being a nobody: a plain, invisible woman who blends into the background. She deserves more—a life of money and power like the one blond-haired, blue-eyed goddess Daphne Parrish takes for granted.

To everyone in the exclusive town of Bishops Harbor, Connecticut, Daphne—a socialite and philanthropist—and her real-estate mogul husband, Jackson, are a couple straight out of a fairy tale.

Amber’s envy could eat her alive . . . if she didn’t have a plan.

Here’s a link to a rather downer review of MrsP. But don’t let that keep you from taking a look at this book. The main character, Amber, is a piece of bad news, for sure. She’s a sociopath on the warpath.  But what does this tell you about these people, whom you could encounter at any time in your life. They are a tough nut to crack. They are acutely aware of all the rules and norms of social behavior, but hold them in total disdain. The rules  don’t really apply to them. They have  their own special view of the world. Nevertheless, they are extremely careful and  cunningly devious. Essentially, they are above it all.

They are deranged to the point of obsession, intensely focused and meticulously plotting to get what they want. They easily go to extraordinary lengths to connect the dots. They are visionary to the point where they can see the cracks and openings in everyday life, through which they hatch their plans. Normal folks are a poor match for them. These human aberrations walk among us.

Reading this book and trying to get outside of your normal viewpoint is important. You can learn a few things that will open your eyes. And that awareness just might protect you, when you least expect it. So don’t just blow this whole thing off because you don’t like Amber and the stuff she pulls. She would eat your heart out and think nothing of it. Don’t let her.

Here is the link to the negative reviews. I think these folks may have presumptively bailed. Who knows?
